We are going to run a trip to Sipidan in April/May 2010 staying at the Seaventures dive platform which...
is a unique base from which to dive Sipadan and Mabul. This converted oil rig sits just off the northern shore of Mabul Island and is a great value way to dive the area. Where else can you kit up in a spacious dive station and then be lowered into the macro heaven below.
Seaventures
Seaventures Dive Resort is a 43 room floating resort, located 1km off the shore of Mabul Island, about 20 minutes boat ride from Sipadan Island. The resort is a customized 4 tiers accommodation platform anchored in a jack-up position supported on 6 tubular legs over 60 feet water.
The panoramic sunset and sunrise from the sundeck is unrivaled. Throughout the day, schools of fish swim alongside the resort, in the evening, attracted by the bright light of the resort, turtles and other fish swim close by.
Unlimited and free diving is available on the house reef underneath the platform. Unlike the island resorts, fresh water is provided and usage is not restricted, importantly, the platform is free from mosquitoes, sand flies and bugs. Staying at the resort is like being on a huge liveabord that doesn't move, so no sea sicknes.
Facilities include a lounge with VCD movies(bring your own if you wish), open-air dining area, restaurant, games room, children playroom, snooker table, free internet service and PADI diving courses up to assistant instructor level.
Accommodation
The customized 4-tier accommodation offers comfortable rooms, delicious food and non-stop diving, day or night. Surrounded by the calm waters of the Celebes Sea, the resort is at the heart of some of the world's best diving. Steep walls, huge schools of fish, remarkable critters and bustling reefs are just a boat ride away. Start your day with a dive alongside thousands of swirling barracuda, swim with turtles and sharks, explore the rich reefs of Mabul and Kapalai.
The standard rooms on the platform are simple, clean, have ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning and most have a sea view. All the rooms have:-

- Mineral water
Each room is simple, well-furbished, fully air-conditioned and has ample modern facilities, including fresh, clean water, televisions so you can check your days underwater filming and lots of power points so you can recharge your batteries.
Included in your accommodation package is breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. If you are a single diver you can share with another diver or pay single supplement to get your own room. Please ask.
The Diving
Seaventures is itself a fantastic site and with unlimited diving beneath the resort, you are sure to get to know the residents very well. Trips to Sipadan are scheduled every morning, leaving the afternoons free for exploring the macro-rich reefs of Mabul and Kapalai. For those interested in learning to dive, Seaventure is the perfect place to start your underwater career; in-house instructors can teach the full range of PADI courses, from Open Water to Assistant Instructor, as well as specialties such as Cavern Diver and Nitrox. The resort has 25 staff, including divemasters and instructors.
Don't forget that in addition to the boat dives you have free unlimited diving on the house reef.
